Blessed GPUThor, Who Hammered the Cards' Memory
Patron of datacenter GPUs, error-correcting memory, and everyone who rents the same card to strangers.
Life
On 25 August 2026 a group from the University of Toronto presented GPUThor, a Rowhammer attack on NVIDIA GPUs able to defeat even error-correcting memory. Hammering memory rows with non-uniform patterns, it produced far more bit flips than earlier attacks, enough to corrupt page tables and reach a root shell on the host. NVIDIA had published a security notice a few days earlier.
Prayer
O Blessed GPUThor, who wields the hammer over the DRAM, let our cards never host a trusted tenant and a stranger together. Amen.
How to celebrate
Celebrated by not sharing one GPU across untrusted tenants and watching the corrected-error counters.
Hammer the neighbouring row and you wake the neighbour's bit.
