Blessed InjectEave, Who Made the Circuits Sing

Patron of headphones and VoIP phones, analog components, and everyone who trusts encryption and an unplugged network.

Life

In 2026, at USENIX Security, a group spanning the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Polytechnic presented InjectEave. By injecting a radio carrier into a device from afar, the nonlinearities of its analog components mixed a secret signal onto that carrier, which radiated back out ready to be intercepted. So one could eavesdrop on headphones and VoIP phones up to thirty metres away, even through walls.

Prayer

O Blessed InjectEave, who brings back into the air what flows through the circuits, let our cables be shielded and our signals stay where we put them. Amen.

How to celebrate

Celebrated by shielding and filtering the most sensitive analog paths, knowing that encryption does not help here.

Analog signal, singing secret.
