Blessed Juice Jacking, Who Stole From the Socket
Patron of public charging kiosks, unknown USB cables, and everyone whose phone is always flat.
Life
In August 2011 Brian Markus and colleagues at Aires Security set up a fake free charging station at DEF CON: anyone who plugged in a phone got a warning, because the same USB cable that carries power can also carry data. Dubbed juice jacking, the attack stayed more bogeyman than epidemic, but it was enough to spawn "charge-only" cables and a few FBI warnings.
Prayer
O Blessed Juice Jacking, who offers power and asks for data in return, let our cables carry only electrons. Amen.
How to celebrate
Celebrated by charging your phone from your own socket, with a charge-only cable or a wall adapter.
Unknown socket, suspect charge.
