On 10 April 2018 Balint Seeber of Bastille revealed SirenJack: ATI Systems' public warning systems, used in San Francisco among other places, controlled their sirens over radio without encrypting the messages. By listening to the weekly tests, someone with a software-defined radio could have triggered false alarms. ATI prepared an update that added encryption.
