Blessed VectorSmuggle, Smuggler of Vectors

Patron of vector databases, backups nobody checks, and secrets hidden in three thousand dimensions.

Life

In May 2026 Jascha Wanger of ThirdKey published a study of how an insider could hide data inside the embeddings of a vector database, rotating them by tiny angles without spoiling search results. An accomplice with read-only access, perhaps to the backups, could then recover the payload. Traditional anomaly detectors struggled to spot the smallest rotations, and the authors proposed signing every vector at the source.

Prayer

O Blessed VectorSmuggle, who hides letters among the numbers, let our vectors carry nothing but meaning. Amen.

How to celebrate

Celebrated by signing embeddings when they are born and checking them when they are read.

Three thousand dimensions leave room for everyone, thieves included.
