Saint BRIDGE:BREAK, Who Broke the Serial Bridge
Patron of serial-to-Ethernet converters, PLCs that still speak RS-232, and little boxes forgotten at the back of the cabinet.

On 21 April 2026 Forescout Vedere Labs published BRIDGE:BREAK, a study of the converters that connect legacy serial equipment, such as PLCs and protective relays, to IP networks. In devices from Lantronix and silex technology they found 22 new vulnerabilities, some able to take over the device remotely. In the lab the researchers made a thermometer swing between -40 and +40 degrees: a bridge that, once broken, falsifies whatever crosses from one bank to the other.
