Blessed GreenSection, Who Shared Too Much Memory

Patron of graphics drivers, shared memory sections, and zero-days published without warning.

Life

At the end of August 2026 a researcher signing as Nightmare Eclipse published GreenSection, a zero-day in NVIDIA's Windows graphics components. Several user-mode libraries shared a single memory section readable and writable by anyone, and that data was reused at runtime, causing an out-of-bounds write. The author said it did not immediately grant system privileges but could help cross from one user to another; others mostly observed crashes.

Prayer

O Blessed GreenSection, who leaves the same memory room open to all, let our drivers never trust shared data. Amen.

How to celebrate

Celebrated by updating NVIDIA drivers as soon as the fix ships and constraining untrusted processes.

A shared room, nobody's secrets.
