Saint EchoLeak, the Echo That Repeats Secrets

Patron of corporate AI assistants, emails nobody opened, and images that served no purpose.

Life

On 11 June 2025 Aim Security revealed the first zero-click vulnerability in Microsoft 365 Copilot. An email carrying hidden instructions was enough: when the user asked any question, Copilot fetched it from the mailbox, obeyed it, and tucked confidential data into a link or image routed through allowed Microsoft domains, delivering it to the attacker. Nobody had to click anything; Microsoft fixed the service with no action needed from users.

Prayer

O Saint EchoLeak, who makes the assistant speak with a stranger's voice, teach our models to tell data from orders. Amen.

How to celebrate

Celebrated by reviewing what your Copilot can read, and treating every incoming email as a prompt written by a stranger.

Heed every echo, and you'll repeat every secret.
