The wonder

On 27 January 2021 Europol and Eurojust announced that police from eight countries had taken control of Emotet's infrastructure, redirecting infected machines to law-enforcement servers. Emotet was a "loader": it got in through Office documents in emails and then rented out access to its victims to ransomware gangs such as Ryuk and Conti. On 25 April 2021 investigators pushed an update that uninstalled Emotet from victims' computers.
