In February 2024 a team of researchers from the University of Florida and CertiK showed that by tampering with the voltage reaching a wireless charger through its power adapter, the charger could be taken over. According to their study, inaudible voice commands could be delivered to the phone's assistant, the charging device could be damaged, or objects resting on the pad could be heated up by fooling its safeguards. They tested several chargers on the market.
