On 30 December 2008, at the 25C3 congress, Tobias Engel of the Chaos Computer Club presented the "curse of silence": a special SMS, marked as e-mail and carrying an address of at least 32 characters, jammed the messaging of Nokia Series 60 phones. After receiving it, the phone stopped accepting new text messages, and healing it often needed a factory reset. One message, and silence fell on the phone.
