"Expectatio Magna, Fructus Parvus". Three weeks before disclosure came a name, a logo and a website, and the world braced for a worm in Samba and Windows. On 12 April 2016 the flaw turned out to be real but modest, needing a man-in-the-middle or leading to denial of service, and Microsoft rated it only "Important". The patches were right and the Samba team's work was serious; it was the wait, not the bug, that was critical. Since then the almanac weighs announcements by their content, not their logo.
